POSTER AND VINYL DESIGN FOR VINCE CLARKE
To promote Songs of Silence, a solo album by Vince Clarke, I created a poster and expanded it into a layered vinyl release. The design reflects the album’s introspective tone, focusing on repetition, rhythm, and spatial tension—core elements both in Clarke’s music and the final visuals.
The poster was built from mirrored architecture, creating a compressed tunnel effect that suggests movement inward. The type treatment runs vertically, pulling the viewer into the image. A strict black-and-white palette is interrupted only by dark green—used sparingly to hint at emotional depth beneath the surface.
The vinyl takes cues from Clarke’s home studio and the metallic tones of ammonite fossils. A vellum outer sleeve partially reveals a reversed tracklist printed on the jacket beneath. When the layers align, the songs become legible—inviting the listener to pause and engage. Material, sequence, and form all echo the music’s quiet control.
